The 10th International Linguistics Olympiad was held in
34 teams from 26 countries participated, with China, Greece, Hungary, Israel, and Japan sending teams for the first time.

Participants competed to solve problems on diverse languages including Dyirbal, Umbu-Ungu, Basque, Teop, Rotuman, and Lao.
The jury awarded 37 medals (8 gold, 13 silver, and 16 bronze), as well as 24 honorable mentions, 3 team contest trophies, a team cup for highest average score, and 10 best solution prizes
